Landry introduced it to the league in the 70s

Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry was the first to use the method when evaluating potential players to fit into his team back in the 70s. Since then the test has become a standard in the pre draft process, although there has been talk of getting rid of the Wolderlic all together.

Only one player in NFL history has scored a perfect 50 on the test. That was Pat McInally, a punter selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1975 draft. McInally went on to have a successful career in which he made one Pro Bowl and went to the Super Bowl with the Bengals.

Washington Commanders QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had a 48 on the aptitude test, and has been in the league for longer than fifteen year. On the contrary, Frank Gore scored a six on the Wonderlic and finished his career as the third leading rusher in NFL history.

Bengals stars scores

Good scores don’t guarantee a long, successful career in the NFL just like bad scores don’t mean a player won’t triumph at the next level. Like the entire draft process it’s all a craps shoot, but at the moment the Cincinnati Bengals look like they did pretty well assembling a team.

Not all NFL players Wonderlic scores have been released, so here is a list of some of the biggest Bengals stars scores.

Joe Burrow 34

Joe Mixon 12

Tee Higgins 11
